KaVo 25 LPR Care: The Daily Routine and the Weekly Step Most Teams Miss

Look after a GENTLEpower LUX 25 LPR with four habits: clean it, lubricate it before every sterilization, sterilize it without a bur, and give the chuck a short spray once a week. The steps below follow KaVo's maintenance guidance for speed-increasing attachments in the GENTLEpower LUX 25 line and KaVo's current care advice.

Before Each Use: The Heat and Damage Check

Look for dents or cracks on the head and sleeve.

Run it briefly outside the mouth and check for unusual noise or vibration.

Touch the head after the run. KaVo advises stopping use of any handpiece that heats up.

After Each Patient: Clean, Lubricate, Sterilize

Remove the attachment from the motor's E-type connection and remove the bur.

Scrub under cold running water with a soft brush.

Do not immerse in disinfectant or combine disinfecting with sterilization.

Lubricate with KaVo Spray and the Quick nozzle for about three seconds, covered with a cloth. Repeat if a lot of debris comes out.

Sterilize without a bur, by steam, as the FDA listing requires, at a maximum of 135 °C per KaVo guidance.

KaVo prefers automated care with QUATTROcare PLUS, and states it guarantees proper function only with approved KaVo care products.

The Weekly Chuck Spray

For speed-increasing attachments, KaVo advises spraying into the front of the chuck for one to two seconds once a week, using the pointed adapter on the Quick nozzle. KaVo's care page also recommends cleaning and servicing the chuck system weekly.

Safe-Use Habits That Prevent Heat

Never press the chuck release button while the attachment is rotating.

Never use the head as a cheek or tongue retractor.

Keep coolant spray on during cutting.

Never lubricate the electric motor. KaVo states its electric motors have permanent lubrication.

Mistakes to Avoid

	Lubricating after sterilization.

	Skipping the weekly chuck spray.

Spraying oil into the electric motor.

	Ignoring a slightly warm head.

Fitting the attachment straight onto the motor after lubrication, which KaVo advises against.

Disinfection and Sterilization: Getting the Order Right

The FDA listing states the 25 LPR requires steam sterilization. KaVo's guidance says attachments should not be immersed in disinfectant, and disinfecting should not be combined with sterilization. KaVo also notes that if alcohol wipes are used instead of sterilization, the attachment should be lubricated afterwards.

Using QUATTROcare PLUS

KaVo prefers automated care with QUATTROcare PLUS over manual care. It gives more consistent lubrication across a busy day. Follow its instructions for connecting INTRA attachments, and keep cleaning the exterior first.

Training the Team on Safe Handling

Show every clinician KaVo's rule never to press the chuck button while the attachment rotates.

Explain why the head must not be used to retract cheeks or tongue.

Make the pre-use heat check part of every chair set-up.
