KaVo EXPERTmatic E10 C Maintenance: Care Tips for a Handpiece That Handles Two Bur Types

A straight handpiece that accepts both straight and contra-angle burs sees a wider variety of work than most instruments. The KaVo EXPERTmatic E10 C stays reliable when its push-button release, chuck, and spray port get consistent care.

Here is how to build that care into your daily routine.

Three Things the E10 C Depends On

A clean, lubricated release mechanism so the push button works smoothly.

A healthy chuck that grips both bur types securely.

A clear single spray port for cooling.

Cleaning Around the Push Button

The push-button release sits right where fingers, debris, and moisture meet. During external cleaning, pay deliberate attention to the area around it so residue does not work its way into the mechanism. KaVo lists the series as thermo-disinfectable, which helps reach areas that hand cleaning can miss.

Caring for the Push-Button Release and Chuck

KaVo says the QUATTROcare PLUS includes a collet program for reliable holding power, along with a purging function that cleans gears and spray channels with compressed air. KaVo Spray is the manual option.

Keeping the Spray Port Clear

KaVo's care tips explain that hard water clogs spray channels and that too little spray risks overheating damage to the tooth and pulp. Use KaVo's nozzle needles, never a root canal needle, and never a descaling agent.

Push button feeling sticky? Ask Repair. Dental to take a look before it stops releasing burs altogether.

Coupling and O-Rings

The E10 C connects to the motor like any INTRAmatic instrument. When its O-rings wear, change the full set by hand, use only oils KaVo recommends, and seat it with a straight push and slight twist.

Mistakes to Avoid

Using the wrong bur type or not inserting it fully.

	Skipping lubrication after cleaning.

Clearing the spray with a root canal needle.

Reaching for a generic oil or a descaling product.

Letting the autoclave run above KaVo's 135°C limit.

Straight Handpiece Care FAQs

How do I keep the push-button release working smoothly?

Clean and lubricate after every use with KaVo Spray or the QUATTROcare PLUS, which has a collet program.

Should I lubricate before or after testing the push button?

Lubricate as part of reprocessing, then do your quick insert-and-release check before the next use.
