KaVo EXPERTmatic E15 C Maintenance: A Between-Use Routine for Your Green-Ring Reducer

A green-ring reducer can sit idle for days, then be needed urgently. The KaVo EXPERTmatic E15 C stays dependable only if every use, however short, ends with complete reprocessing.

This guide is built around the life of an occasionally used instrument: what to do after use, during storage, and before the next case.

Never Skip the Full Process

KaVo's instrument preparation video, linked from its EXPERTmatic page, walks through four stages in order. For an instrument that may then sit for days, the last two matter most: maintenance leaves a protective film of KaVo lubricant inside, and sterilization (never above KaVo's listed 135°C / 275°F) means it comes out of storage ready to use.

Lubrication and the Reinforced Clamping System

Use KaVo Spray or the QUATTROcare PLUS, which KaVo says purges gears and spray channels with compressed air and includes a collet program for reliable holding power.

Protecting the Single Spray Port

The E15 C has a 1-port spray. KaVo's care tips explain that hard water can clog spray channels, and too little spray can damage tooth and pulp through overheating. Clean the nozzle with KaVo's dedicated needles; never use a root canal needle or descaling agent.

Pulled it from storage and it feels wrong? Have Repair.Dental check it before your next case.

The Pre-Case Ritual

Spray flows from the port during a short test.

A 2.35 mm bur locks securely.

	It runs smoothly and quietly.

It sits firmly on the motor.

O-Rings and the Flexible Latch

Replace all O-rings together without sharp tools, using only KaVo-recommended oils, never Vaseline, and attach the instrument straight with a slight twist.

Mistakes With Occasional Instruments

A quick wipe instead of full reprocessing.

Skipping lubrication after a short use.

	Storing it damp.

	Ignoring the pre-case check.

Choosing a sterilizer cycle above the 135°C that KaVo lists.

Between-Use Care Questions About the E15 C

Does a short use still need full reprocessing?

Yes. Any use introduces debris and moisture, so follow the full KaVo preparation process.

Where should I store the E15 C between uses?

Only after full reprocessing, in its sterile packaging, so no moisture or residue sits inside while it waits.
