KaVo EXPERTmatic E15 C Repair & Service: Getting the Facts Straight on KaVo's Non-Light Reducer

The KaVo EXPERTmatic E15 C is the green-ring, non-light-reducer contra-angle in the EXPERTmatic range. Before talking about repairs, there is one detail worth clearing up, because KaVo's own documents describe its ratio in two slightly different ways.

One Instrument, Two Published Ratios

KaVo's current official EXPERTmatic product page lists the E15 C (Mat. no. 1.007.5531) at a 5.4:1 transmission with a green ring. An older KaVo EXPERTmatic series overview lists the same part number as 5.1:1. Always check the markings and instructions on your instrument before comparing speeds or ordering parts.

The E15 C Feature Set

According to KaVo's product page, the E15 C has internally guided, separate cooling media for 2.35 mm contra-angle burs, a reinforced clamping system, a 1-port spray, an even smaller head for efficient access, and a flexible latch for easy handling. It has no light; the light version is the E15 L (1.007.5530).

How the E15 C Compares With Its Siblings

Model	Ring	Transmission	Light	Spray
E15 C	Green	5.4:1 (product page)	No	1-port
E15 L	Green	5.4:1	25,000 lux	Internally guided cooling
E20 C	Blue	1:1	No	1-port

Faults That Point to a Repair

A 2.35 mm bur that will not lock or release cleanly
Grinding, roughness, or new noise after correct lubrication
Heat at the head
A weak single spray port after cleaning
Loose or difficult fit on the motor

Why Reducers Hide Problems

Reduction contra-angles are often reached for less often than blue or red rings. Residue or skipped lubrication after a short use can show up much later. That is why many E15 C problems seem to appear "suddenly."

Warranty and Factory Repair

KaVo lists a 24-month warranty for the EXPERTmatic series and offers KaVo REPAIR. Check coverage first if your E15 C is newer.

Our E15 C Evaluation

Confirm the model, markings, and ratio on the instrument.
Check coupling and flexible latch fit.
Test clamping with a correct 2.35 mm bur.
Assess smoothness, noise, and heat on a test motor.
Clear and test the spray port.
Explain findings and options in plain language.

Keep a Note of Your Instrument's Markings

Because KaVo's published ratio for this part number differs between documents, write down exactly what is marked on your E15 C and keep it with your equipment records. When you call any repair service, that one detail prevents confusion about which parts and test speeds apply.

For the between-use care routine that prevents most E15 C repairs, see our companion maintenance guide.
