KaVo EXPERTmatic E25 L Maintenance: The Care Habits That Keep a Speed Increaser Cool, Bright and Quiet

A red-ring speed increaser asks a lot of its bearings, spray, and chuck. Treat the KaVo EXPERTmatic E25 L well, and its ceramic bearings, replaceable microfilter, and light conductor have every chance of delivering the long service life KaVo designed it for.

This guide turns KaVo's official information into a routine your team can follow without second-guessing.

Why the E25 L Rewards Careful Care

KaVo builds the E25 L with original ceramic ball bearings, an especially resistant stainless steel head, and a high-tech FG chuck with a carbide guide bushing. Those features are made to last, but bearings and chucks depend on being clean and properly lubricated. A speed increaser magnifies small problems because the bur turns faster than the motor.

KaVo's Four-Part Reprocessing Framework

KaVo's official EXPERTmatic page points to its instrument preparation video, which covers four stages for all KaVo instruments:

External and internal cleaning
Internal disinfection
Manual maintenance and cleaning
Sterilization

KaVo lists the EXPERTmatic series as washable in a thermo-disinfector and sterilizable up to 135°C (275°F). Use the cycle given in the instructions supplied with your E25 L.

Lubrication: Manual or Automated

You can service the E25 L by hand with KaVo Spray or use the QUATTROcare PLUS. KaVo says the QUATTROcare PLUS uses a purging function that pressurizes and cleans the gears and spray channels with compressed air, removing excess oil, and offers a collet program for reliable instrument holding power. For a chuck rated at up to 30 N, that collet care matters.

The Spray Microfilter: Your First Line of Defense

The E25 L has an exchangeable spray microfilter. KaVo's care tips explain why it matters: poor water quality can dirty the filter, and spray quality and quantity drop as a result. Too little spray can damage the tooth and pulp through overheating.

Watch spray output during your first case each day.
Replace the microfilter when spray quality drops.
Clean spray nozzles with KaVo's dedicated nozzle needles, never a root canal needle.
Never place the handpiece in, or spray it with, a descaling agent.

Looking After the 25,000-Lux Light

The E25 L's glass rod light conductor is part of what makes it an "L" model. Keep the light exit clean during routine cleaning so the illumination KaVo designed it for reaches the preparation margin. KaVo's EXPERTgrip surface is also designed for fast cleaning.

O-Rings at the Coupling

KaVo's care tips recommend replacing all O-rings together without sharp tools, using only KaVo-recommended oils (never Vaseline), and attaching or removing the instrument in a straight line with a slight twist.

Your E25 L Care Schedule

When	Task	Why It Matters
After every patient	Clean, disinfect, lubricate, sterilize (max 135°C)	Protects bearings and chuck
First case of the day	Check spray output and light	Catches filter or light issues early
When spray drops	Replace the spray microfilter; clean nozzles	Keeps cooling effective
When O-rings show wear	Replace all O-rings with KaVo products	Prevents leaks at the coupling
As set in your IFU	Chuck and collet care	Keeps 30 N bur retention reliable

Mistakes That Shorten E25 L Life

Ignoring weak spray and carrying on cutting.
Using descaling agents or generic oils.
Clearing nozzles with a root canal needle.
Greasing O-rings with Vaseline.
Sterilizing above 135°C (275°F).
