KaVo EXPERTmatic E31 C Maintenance: A Paste-Smart Routine for Hygiene Teams

The KaVo EXPERTmatic E31 C is designed to keep polishing paste out of its head. Your maintenance routine is what keeps that design working appointment after appointment.

This guide gives hygiene teams a paste-focused routine built on KaVo's official guidance.

Why Paste Changes Everything

KaVo lists multiple seals on the E31 C that protect against the ingress of polishing paste. Prompt cleaning reduces the load on those seals every single day.

Timing Is Everything With Paste

Paste that is still wet wipes away. Paste that has dried in a sterilizer bag does not. Building attachment removal and a first rinse into the end of every appointment, before the tray leaves the operatory, does more for the E31 C's seals than any later step.

Snap-On and Screw-In Attachment Care

The E31 C's special-sealed head accepts both attachment styles. Keep the screw-in threads free of dried paste and make sure the snap-on seat is clean so attachments hold securely.

Attachments not seating like they used to? Have Repair. Dental inspect the head before it affects your polish.

Lubrication After Polishing

Once paste is gone, lubricate with KaVo Spray or let the QUATTROcare PLUS handle it. Lubricating over leftover paste only pushes it deeper, so cleaning always comes first.

O-Ring Care

Paste can find its way onto coupling O-rings too. Wipe them clean, and when they wear, replace the full set with KaVo-recommended oils, as KaVo's care tips advise.

Mistakes Hygiene Teams Should Avoid

Letting paste dry on the head.

	Leaving attachments on during reprocessing.

Using non-KaVo oils or descaling agents.

Overheating the instrument in a cycle hotter than 135°C.

Prophy Paste and E31 C Care FAQs

How quickly should I clean paste off the E31 C?

As soon as possible after the patient, before it dries.

Should attachments be removed before reprocessing?

Yes. Remove the snap-on or screw-in attachment so the head can be cleaned properly.
