KaVo MASTERmatic M10 L Maintenance: Caring for a Straight Handpiece With Two Workplaces

The KaVo MASTERmatic M10 L can work in the mouth one minute and on a prosthesis the next, according to KaVo. Each setting leaves different residue behind.

This guide adapts KaVo's care guidance to both.

No Filter, Different Priorities

KaVo's variations table lists the exchangeable spray microfilter for every MASTERmatic model except the M10 L. That makes keeping the spray channels clean, with KaVo's dedicated nozzle needles, especially important.

KaVo's MASTERmatic page points to its preparation video: external and internal cleaning, internal disinfection, manual maintenance and sterilization. KaVo lists the series as thermo-disinfectable and sterilizable up to 135°C (275°F).

Spray Channel Care Without a Filter

KaVo's care tips explain that hard water can clog spray channels, and too little spray can overheat the tooth and pulp. Use KaVo's nozzle needles, never a root canal needle, and never descaling agents.

Spray thin and no filter to change? Let Repair. Dental: clear the channels.

Lubrication

Use KaVo Spray or the QUATTROcare PLUS, which KaVo says includes a collet program for reliable holding power, useful for a handpiece that takes two bur types.

O-Rings

Replace the full O-ring set when worn, by hand, with KaVo-recommended oils, and attach the M10 L straight with a slight twist.

Leaving prosthesis dust on the body.

Using the wrong bur type or not inserting it fully.

M10 L Care FAQs

Does the M10 L have a spray filter?

KaVo's variations table does not list the exchangeable spray microfilter for the M10 L.

How should I clean it after extra-oral work?

Remove dust and residue thoroughly, then follow KaVo's full preparation process.
