Lares MULTIforce 5K Straight Handpiece Maintenance Guide

Lares builds two products specifically to support MULTIforce upkeep: a Handpiece Conditioner for lubrication and a Multipurpose Nozzle for chuck cleaning, which tells you where most of the maintenance attention on this handpiece should actually go: the attachment interface and internal lubrication, not just exterior wipe-downs.

After Every Patient

Remove whatever attachment was in use: contra angle, prophy angle, or bur.

Wipe down the exterior of the handpiece body.

Clean the attachment interface to prevent the debris buildup that leads to loose-feeling connections over time.

Lubricate using Lares's Handpiece Conditioner before sterilization.

Weekly Care

Use the Multipurpose Nozzle (designed for low speeds and 4/5-hole high speeds) to clean the chuck mechanism thoroughly.

Check the swivel for smooth 360° rotation without stiffness or drag.

Test each attachment type you regularly use for a secure, consistent fit.

Sterilization

The MULTIforce is built to withstand repeated autoclaving to meet CDC and State Dental Board requirements, per Lares's own specifications. As with any handpiece, always confirm current cycle parameters against Lares's official instructions for use rather than assuming they match a different manufacturer's guidance.

 Lubricate Before You Sterilize

Skipping the Handpiece Conditioner step before autoclaving is one of the most common ways practices shorten a low-speed handpiece's working life it takes seconds and protects the internal components through every heat cycle.

Monthly Care

Review performance across your full MULTIforce fleet — power, swivel action, and attachment fit — rather than waiting for a specific complaint.

Confirm you're stocked on genuine Lares attachments and consumables rather than mismatched third-party parts.

Consider Club Lares if your practice purchases handpiece consumables from Lares regularly it includes unlimited free repairs on Lares handpieces as a program benefit.

Storage

Store the handpiece and its attachments in sterilization packaging until ready for use.

Keep attachments organized by type (contra angle, prophy angle, straight bur) to avoid mismatched or forced fits under time pressure.

Mistakes to Avoid

Skipping Handpiece Conditioner lubrication before autoclaving.

Forcing an attachment that doesn't seat smoothly instead of cleaning the interface first.

Using non-Lares repair or replacement parts, given the manufacturer's own precision-tolerance warnings.

Letting swivel stiffness go unaddressed instead of cleaning it promptly.

FAQs

What is Lares's Handpiece Conditioner used for?

It's Lares's own lubrication product for handpiece maintenance, intended for use before sterilization to protect internal components through the autoclave cycle.

Do I need a special nozzle to clean the MULTIforce's chuck?

Lares's Multipurpose Nozzle is designed for low-speed handpieces (and 4/5-hole high-speeds) specifically for chuck cleaning purposes.

Is Club Lares worth it for a practice running several MULTIforce units?

If your practice already purchases handpiece consumables from Lares, Club Lares's unlimited free repair benefit can meaningfully reduce ongoing maintenance costs worth evaluating against your current usage.
