The ValueTorque system separates into a motor and a swappable attachment (contra angle or straight, in 1:1 or 4:1 ratio), each with its own warranty clock and care considerations.

VERIFIED: USE ONLY LARES HANDPIECE CONDITIONER

Lares's documentation states plainly: use of lubricants or conditioners other than the Lares-approved conditioner, or failure to follow the documented maintenance schedule, will automatically void the limited warranty. This isn't a recommendation it's a stated warranty condition.

Lubrication: After Every Cleaning, Before Every Sterilization

1	Remove the bur. Clear the attachment before beginning the lubrication procedure.

2	Apply Lares Handpiece Conditioner. Use the appropriate nozzle, insert it into the back of the handpiece, and apply conditioner for approximately 2 seconds.

3	Run the handpiece to expel excess. Insert a shipping bur and operate at full speed for approximately 45 seconds to circulate and expel excess lubricant.

4	Wipe and remove. Remove excess conditioner from the exterior with a towel, then remove the shipping bur before proceeding to sterilization.

Sterilization

Lares documents a maximum temperature resistance of 135°C (275°F) for its handpieces, with the following as a documented gravity-cycle reference point:

Heat-sterilize between every patient. Lares points to CDC guidance covering anything that attaches to the air/water supply line, which includes low-speed handpieces, attachments, and reusable heads.
Plastic sleeves and other barrier techniques alone are not compliant substitutes for heat sterilization, per the same guidance.
Do not leave handpiece components in the sterilizer after the cycle completes.

Weekly Care

Clean the swivel/coupling rotating surface. Remove it from the coupling and clean the external surface of the connection with isopropyl alcohol and a gauze pad to keep it rotating freely.
Check the dental unit's air filter and dryer. A steady supply of clean, moisture-free air is documented as directly affecting how long the handpiece lasts.

Monthly and Periodic Care

Inspect the 4-hole connection and E-type coupling for wear that could affect sealing.
Confirm the attachment's push-button latch head still grips burs securely; a weakening grip is a separate wear item from the motor.
Track maintenance dates so lubrication and inspection intervals aren't left to memory.

Storage Between Uses

Store the motor and attachments in a clean, dry place after sterilization.
Keep 1:1 and 4:1 attachments clearly labeled if your practice runs both ratios.
