The ProStyle SF comes in two connection styles and two head sizes, and confirming both helps you follow the right care notes for your specific unit.

VERIFIED, USE ONLY LARES HANDPIECE CONDITIONER
Lares's documentation states that use of a lubricant or conditioner other than the Lares-approved product, or failing to follow the documented maintenance schedule, will void the limited warranty. This applies to the ProStyle SF the same as it does across Lares's handpiece line.

Lubrication: After Every Cleaning, Before Every Sterilization

1	Remove the bur. Clear the chuck before beginning the lubrication procedure.

2	Apply Lares Handpiece Conditioner. Insert the appropriate nozzle into the back of the handpiece and apply for approximately 2 seconds.

3	Run the handpiece to expel excess. Insert a shipping bur and run at full speed for approximately 45 seconds to circulate and expel excess lubricant.

4	Wipe down and proceed to sterilization. Remove excess conditioner from the exterior with a towel, then remove the shipping bur.

Sterilization

Lares documents a maximum temperature resistance of 135°C (275°F) for its handpieces, with the following as a documented gravity-cycle reference point:

Heat sterilize between every patient. Lares cites CDC guidance covering anything attached to the air/water line, which includes high-speed handpieces.
Barrier sleeves alone are not a compliant substitute for heat sterilization.

Daily Care

Wipe the exterior and optics connection point clean before each use to protect the solid-rod cellular optics' light output.
Confirm bur retention feels secure before beginning a procedure. The SteelGrip chuck is documented for strong, long-lasting grip, so any weakness is worth noting.

Weekly Care

Clean the swivel/coupling rotating surface (Swivel models). Use isopropyl alcohol and a gauze pad on the external surface of the connection to keep it rotating freely.
Check the delivery unit's air filter and dryer. Clean, moisture-free air is documented as directly affecting handpiece longevity.
