Dentsply Sirona's combined Instructions for Use for the T1, T2, and T3 Energo family lays out a precise sequence: pre-disinfect at the treatment center, clean manually with a brush, lubricate the mechanical parts and the push-button chuck separately, then sterilize. Two details inside that sequence are easy to get wrong: the chuck gets lubricated weekly, not daily, and only one specific spray product is approved for the whole family.

This playbook follows that official sequence step by step and translates it into a routine your sterilization room can run without re-reading the manual.

One spray product, used two different ways, on two different schedules. Miss either distinction and the routine falls apart.

Weekly

push-button chuck lubrication interval

134°C

sterilization temperature, min. 3 min holding

2.04 bar

overpressure during sterilization

≥15 min

minimum drying time

Immediately After Every Treatment Session

Pre-disinfect at the treatment center. This is the first documented step, performed right where the handpiece was used, before it travels anywhere else.
Remove the handpiece from the motor.
Transport it to the cleaning area for the full manual cleaning sequence.

Manual Cleaning With a Brush

Dentsply Sirona's instructions specify manual cleaning with a brush as the documented method for the T3 Energo. Work the brush over the external surfaces and, where accessible, the chuck opening, following the pre-disinfection step and before moving on to lubrication.

Manual Lubrication: Mechanical Parts First, Then the Chuck

This is the step with the most room for error, because it is really two separate actions on two separate schedules.

LUBRICATE THE MECHANICAL PARTS

Performed as part of the routine cleaning cycle, after manual cleaning
Use only Dentsply Sirona T1 Spray, the product specified across the whole T1/T2/T3 Energo family despite the name
Follow with sterilization immediately afterward

LUBRICATE THE PUSH-BUTTON CHUCK

At least once a week, not with every cleaning cycle
Also uses T1 Spray, applied directly to the chuck mechanism
A separate, documented step distinct from routine mechanical lubrication

WHY "T1 SPRAY" IS THE RIGHT PRODUCT FOR A T3 HANDPIECE

Dentsply Sirona's Instructions for Use name T1 Spray as the approved lubricant across the entire T1/T2/T3 Energo family, not just the T1 models
Using a different, unapproved lubricant is outside the manufacturer's documented routine and is worth avoiding even if a generic product seems equivalent

Sterilization: Exact Parameters From Dentsply Sirona's Own Instructions

Parameter	Specification
Sterilizer type	Steam sterilizer compliant with EN 13060 class B or class S
Temperature	At least 134°C (274°F)
Holding time	At least 3 minutes
Overpressure	2.04 bar (29.59 psi)
Drying time	At least 15 minutes
Maximum temperature	Never exceed 140°C (284°F), even during the drying phase

Thermal Disinfection: A Washer-Disinfector Alternative

If your sterilization room uses an automated washer-disinfector instead of, or in addition to, manual cleaning, Dentsply Sirona's instructions specify compliance with ISO 15883-1/-2, with an A0 level greater than 3000 (for example, 95°C for a 10-minute holding time) as the thermal disinfection benchmark.

Why the T3 Energo Needs Less Disposable Packaging Than You'd Expect

Dentsply Sirona positions the Energo series around sustainability specifically, and two of the stated design choices directly reduce what your sterilization room needs to stock or dispose of: no printed Instructions for Use (digital-only, accessed via the Dentsply Sirona IFU portal), and an integrated water filter built into the handpiece itself, which reduces contamination risk compared with relying entirely on external line filtration.

Bookmark the digital IFU for your specific T3 Energo model rather than relying on a printed copy that may be out of date.
Do not assume the integrated water filter replaces your practice's own water-line filtration entirely. Treat it as an added layer, not a substitute.

A Daily, Weekly and Monthly Rhythm, Plus a Printable Checklist

Dentsply Sirona specifies the per-session and weekly intervals above. The monthly items below build a practical clinic schedule around that documented routine.

☐ After every session: remove from motor, transport for cleaning

☐ After every session: manually clean with a brush

☐ After every session: lubricate mechanical parts with T1 Spray

☐ After every session: confirm clean, lubricated, properly packaged, then sterilize

☐ Weekly: lubricate the push-button chuck with T1 Spray, separate from daily cleaning

☐ Monthly (suggested): confirm sterilization parameters (134°C, 3 min, 2.04 bar, 15 min drying) are still being met consistently

☐ Monthly (suggested): review T1 Spray stock and digital IFU access for your specific models
