Before You Start: Setup Requirements

DENTALEZ's manual sets specific conditions before the scaler is even installed, not just for ongoing care:

Requirement	Specification
Air filtration	10 microns
Water filtration	25 microns
Water supply	Softened and deionized
Air pressure	Do not exceed 40 psi
Water flow	25 cc/min at 15 psi

VERIFIED , DETACH ANY OIL/MIST LUBRICATION LINE FIRST

If your delivery unit has an oil/mist lubrication system feeding the line, DENTALEZ's instructions call for detaching and draining it before installing the Blis-sonic. The scaler's lubrication needs are met entirely through the manual DentaLube application described below not through a shared delivery-unit lubrication line.

The Lubrication Routine , Before Every Sterilization

This is the single most important recurring task for this scaler, and DENTALEZ is specific about how it's done:

1	Use the correct lubricant only. DentaLube for Sonic Scalers, StarDental Part #261818. DENTALEZ specifically warns that using a different lubricant can cause failure.

2	Insert the lubricator tip firmly into the nozzle. Then spray a short burst into the Blis-sonic K drive air tube, or into the notched hole on the Blis-sonic SW.

3	Attach the tip and run the scaler. Run it for 20 seconds to circulate the lubricant throughout the mechanism never run the scaler without a tip in place.

4	Remove the tip and proceed to sterilization. The scaler is now lubricated and ready for its sterilization cycle.

After Each Use

Remove the tip and blow compressed air through it to clear trapped water.
Cap the tip with the cover provided (StarDental Part #261358) to prevent injury and keep it protected.
The scaler, tip, grip, and wrench must all be cleaned and sterilized between patient uses not just the motor body.

Sterilization

Bagging: place the scaler, tip, grip, and wrench together in a sterilization bag DENTALEZ specifies paper or paper/plastic bags only.
After the cycle: remove the components after the drying cycle ends and allow them to cool inside the bag rather than opening it immediately.
Grip rotation: since grips are interchangeable and autoclavable, you can sterilize one grip while using another a documented way to keep the scaler in rotation without downtime.

Tip Care and Replacement

Never run the scaler without a tip attached this is stated directly in DENTALEZ's instructions.
Use the universal wrench only to remove tips, never to tighten them, to avoid damaging the scaler.
Scale with the tip at an angle to the restoration margin, using a light “feather touch” rather than pressing firmly.
Always use water during operation this is a stated warning, not just a best practice.
Replace tips annually under normal use, or sooner if worn shorter by 1/2 mm (.02 in.) or more.

Weekly and Periodic Care

Check the swivel connection for tightness on SW models DENTALEZ documents this joint as prone to loosening over time, causing leaks or power loss if ignored.
Confirm air and water filtration are still holding at the specified 10-micron and 25-micron levels.
Recheck air pressure with a 4/6-line gauge periodically rather than only when troubleshooting a problem.

Mistakes That Shorten Scaler Life

Skipping pre-sterilization lubrication. The single most consequential documented habit for this specific scaler.
Using a non-approved lubricant. DENTALEZ warns this can cause outright failure, not just reduced performance.
Running the scaler without a tip attached. Explicitly warned against in the instructions.
Tightening tips with the wrench. The wrench is for removal only using it to tighten risks damage.
Ignoring a loosening swivel joint. A documented wear point that leads to leaks and power loss if left unchecked.

Extending the Life of Your Titan Blis-sonic

Because this scaler is built around a lubrication cycle rather than a lubrication-free design, consistency is everything a missed lubrication step here and there adds up faster than it does on other Star equipment. What Practices Are Saying

“Once we built the DentaLube step into our sterilization checklist instead of treating it as optional, our scalers stopped needing early swivel repairs.” — Hygiene Coordinator, Group Dental Practice

“The grip rotation tip alone changed how we schedule sterilization we're never waiting on a single scaler anymore.” — Dental Hygienist, Multi-Chair Office

Frequently Asked Questions

Q How often does the Blis-sonic need lubrication?

A Before every single autoclave sterilization cycle, without exception, using DentaLube for Sonic Scalers (Part #261818) this is one of the most consistently emphasized instructions in DENTALEZ's manual.

Q Can I use a different lubricant if DentaLube isn't available?

A No. DENTALEZ specifically warns that using a lubricant other than the specified DentaLube for Sonic Scalers can result in failure.

Q How often should I replace scaling tips?

A Annually under normal use, or sooner if a tip has worn shorter by 1/2 mm (.02 in.) or more.

Q Can I sterilize the whole scaler assembly together?

A Yes , DENTALEZ's instructions call for placing the scaler, tip, grip, and wrench together in a paper or paper/plastic sterilization bag, then letting them cool in the bag after the drying cycle.
