What Makes the Titan E Different

The Titan E Low-Speed System is StarDental's e-type connection motor, built on the same internal platform as the Titan 3 motor but designed to work with all standard E-Type attachments rather than an RA swivel. It's available as a 5K motor (100 to 5,000 rpm) or a 20K motor (110 to 20,000 rpm), in either swivel or fixed-back-end configurations, and is LubeFree by design.

Specification	Value
Speed range	100 to 5,000 rpm (5K) or 110 to 20,000 rpm (20K)
Recommended air pressure	40 to 45 psi
Air flow	2.1 SCFM at 40 to 45 psi, maximum power point
Connection	4-line (fixed back end) or 2/3-line swivel; e-type attachments
Lubrication	LubeFree no lubrication required
Sterilization limit	Up to 135°C

What Actually Fails

Symptom	Likely Cause
Lack of power	Incorrect air pressure, crimped tubing, a swivel not fully threaded, a brittle silicone rubber seal, worn swivel O-rings, or debris build-up
Swivel will not disengage	Debris build-up at the swivel/tubing connector
Air leakage / progressive power loss	The motor-to-tubing coupler joint loosening naturally over time
Angle will not seat on the attachment	Transmission gears not meshed correctly between the angle and the motor-to-angle contra-angle attachment
Sluggish rotation	Debris from delivery-system drive-air tubing collecting inside the motor

Diagnosing the Fault

Confirm you're working with the correct motor for the tubing configuration 5K or 20K, swivel or fixed back end since mismatched configurations mimic a mechanical fault.
Gauge drive air pressure using StarDental's 4/6-line air pressure gauge (#262591), targeting 40 to 45 psi with the motor running at full forward speed and the foot control fully depressed.
Inspect tubing for crimping inside and outside the delivery head.
Verify the swivel or fixed-back-end motor is threaded fully onto the tubing coupler, hand-tight and not over-tightened.
Inspect the silicone rubber seal and swivel O-rings for brittleness or wear.
If an angle won't seat, remove it, spin the angle's transmission gear, and reattempt this resolves most meshing issues without further disassembly.

The Repair Process

Bench testing: the motor is tested against its rated 40 to 45 psi specification and checked for smooth forward/reverse operation across the full range of the 120° rotation speed adjustment ring before any part is replaced.
Seal and O-ring replacement: a brittle silicone rubber seal or worn swivel O-rings are replaced with the correct part for the 2/3-line or 4-line configuration.
Coupler service: a loosened motor-to-tubing joint is re-threaded to hand-tight specification StarDental's own documentation warns against over-tightening, which can damage the joint.
Debris clearing: sluggish rotation from tubing debris is resolved by applying DentaLube II to the drive-air tube and alternating the motor in forward and reverse to circulate it.
Attachment and angle service: e-type attachments, contra-angles, and straight nose cones are inspected, and transmission gear meshing is corrected where an angle won't seat properly.
Final verification: rotation direction, full speed range, and air-tightness are confirmed before the unit is returned. Print a pre-paid shipping label

Genuine Replacement Parts

Part	StarDental Part Number
Air pressure gauge, 4/6-line	262591
Silicone rubber seal, 4-line (pack of 3)	202897

When Professional Repair Is Required

Lack of power persists after confirming air pressure, tubing, and coupler tightness
The swivel remains stuck after applying DentaLube II to clear debris
Any visible corrosion or worn parts are found during routine maintenance checks
An angle repeatedly fails to seat correctly even after re-meshing the transmission gear

Warrany note

DentalEZ warrants the Titan E Motor for 1 year from purchase, with O-rings and seals specifically excluded. The warranty is voided by failure to use authorized parts or an authorized repair facility.

Preventive Servicing

StarDental's own documentation notes the motor should be routinely checked for corrosion and worn parts and replaced on an as-needed basis there's no fixed replacement interval. Periodically re-checking coupler tightness and seal condition, rather than waiting for a symptom to appear, catches most Titan E issues while they're still a simple part swap.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Titan E motor the same as the Titan 3 motor?

They share the same underlying platform and many replacement parts, but the Titan E uses an e-type connection to work with standard E-Type attachments, while other Titan motors in the family use different connection types. Confirming which motor you have matters when ordering parts.

Can I mesh the angle myself if it won't seat?

Yes , removing the angle, spinning its transmission gear, and reattaching is a documented step you can try before requesting service. If it still won't seat afterward, that's worth a professional look.

Does RepairGuru use genuine StarDental parts for Titan E repairs?

Yes. We work from StarDental's published part numbers so the repaired motor keeps its original tolerances and stays compatible with manufacturer warranty terms.

How do I know if I have the 5K or 20K motor?

The part number is stamped on the motor housing #266131 for the 20K swivel motor and #266132 for the 20K fixed back end, per StarDental's documentation. If it isn't legible, we can confirm it during a diagnostic visit.
