W&H Synea Fusion WG-67 LT Repair: When Reciprocating Performance Starts to Change

A W&H Synea Fusion WG-67 LT does not have to stop moving before it needs repair. With a reciprocating handpiece, a developing problem can first appear as a change in the way the tip moves, an unusual sound, reduced polishing efficiency, vibration, heat, or a tip that no longer feels secure. The WG-67 LT is a 2:1 Profin® reciprocating contra-angle with a 1.1 mm stroke, single spray and compact glass-rod illumination. It is designed for Dentatus tips and applications including excess-material removal, pre-polishing, fine polishing, and interdental or subgingival work. That makes its repair needs somewhat different from a conventional rotary contra-angle.

If the movement no longer feels like it normally does, W&H handpiece repair service is the right place to start rather than repeatedly testing the instrument chairside.

The First Warning Is Often a Change in Feel

A clinician who uses the WG-67 LT regularly develops a sense of what normal operation feels like.

That makes these changes worth noticing:

 What changed?

 Why it matters

One symptom alone does not identify the failed component. The useful information is what changed and whether several symptoms appeared together.

If you are already noticing a combination of vibration, noise and reduced performance, RepairGuru handpiece services can help move the problem from chairside observation to professional evaluation.

Don't Blame the Tip Too Quickly

Because the WG-67 LT works with specific Dentatus tips, the first repair question should be:

Does the problem follow the tip, or does it stay with the handpiece?

Try the appropriate known-good tip according to the manufacturer's instructions. If the new tip performs normally, the original tip may have been contributing to the problem. If several appropriate tips produce the same unusual movement or vibration, the handpiece deserves closer attention. A secure tip is particularly important during precision polishing. Do not compensate for poor retention by applying additional force.

A Reciprocating Handpiece Should Not Be Treated Like a Rotary One

The WG-67 LT's movement is intentionally reciprocating rather than continuous rotary motion.

That means a new change in movement quality can be a useful diagnostic clue.

Watch for:

	Rough or irregular movement

	Increased vibration

	Unexpected resistance

	Unusual mechanical noise

Reduced efficiency despite a suitable tip

Heat that was not previously present

If the problem persists after the obvious tip and connection checks, professional inspection is more useful than repeated chairside testing.

Repair.Dental's W&H dental handpiece repair service covers common mechanical problems such as vibration, bearing wear, chuck problems, overheating and other handpiece failures.

What About the Light?

The LT designation matters because this model includes a compact glass rod for illumination. A mechanical problem and an illumination problem can occur independently. If the handpiece still reciprocates normally but the treatment field suddenly appears darker, check the connection and optical area according to W&H's instructions. If the light remains abnormal after basic checks, include that information in the repair request.

The technician should know whether the complaint is:

mechanical + optical

or

optical only.

That distinction can make the initial assessment more useful.

Repair or Keep Using It?

A developing problem deserves attention when it becomes repeatable.

Arrange professional assessment when:

	Vibration continues with suitable tips

The handpiece produces new grinding or rattling sounds

	Tip retention becomes unreliable

Performance drops without an obvious tip-related cause

	Heat increases noticeably

	The reciprocating action feels different

Illumination remains abnormal after basic checks

Don't wait for complete failure simply because the handpiece still operates.

If your WG-67 LT is showing persistent symptoms, request W&H handpiece service and describe exactly what changed. You can also contact Repair.Dental through the available contact options to discuss the problem before sending the instrument.

Give the Repair Team Better Information

Instead of writing:

“WG-67 LT not working.”

Give the technician something actionable:

“The handpiece still reciprocates, but vibration has increased and polishing performance has dropped when using more than one tip.”

Also include:

	Model: WG-67 LT

	Tip being used

	Whether another tip was tested

	Whether vibration is present

	Whether the handpiece becomes warm

	Whether the sound has changed

	Whether illumination is affected

	When the problem first appeared

That turns a vague repair request into a useful diagnostic starting point.

For general guidance before sending a handpiece, RepairGuru's handpiece care resources can also help identify whether the problem may be related to routine handling.

Don't Wait for the Movement to Stop

A reciprocating handpiece can continue operating while a mechanical problem is developing.

The important question is not:

“Does it still move?”

It is:

“Does it still move the way it should?”

If the answer has changed, stop compensating with more pressure or repeated testing. Use the W&H repair service or contact Repair.Dental through chat/WhatsApp to discuss the next step.

Early professional assessment can help determine whether the WG-67 LT needs routine servicing, component repair, or a more detailed mechanical inspection.
