As the industry standard for dental wastewater compliance, Solmetex systems keep your practice running within federal, state, and local EPA guidelines. However, when a vacuum leak develops, a bypass valve fails, or structural cracks appear, your clinic's entire suction capacity suffers.

At Repair.Dental, we provide specialized technical support, structural repairs, bracket mounts, and diagnostic servicing for all Solmetex Hg5 systems to ensure zero downtime and total EPA compliance.

Common Solmetex Failure Points We Resolve

Unlike motorized centrifugal systems, Solmetex units utilize gravity-fed sediment separation. This means mechanical failures typically present as pressure leaks, physical damage, or fluid blockages:

Vacuum Level Drops: If you notice a sudden drop in suction at the chairside HVE (High Volume Evacuator) or saliva ejector, micro-cracks in the clear acrylic housing or compromised manifold seals are often the culprit.
Failed Bypass Valves: The internal valves inside the upper chamber are designed to manage extreme high-flow situations. If these valves fail or get stuck with debris, contaminated waste can bypass the collection cartridge entirely.
Stuck/Cross-Threaded Collection Cartridges: Over-tightening or neglecting regular cartridge changes can cause the connection collar threads to warp or bind, preventing the installation of a fresh collection unit.
Clogged Intake Manifolds: Built-up dental sediment, prophylaxis powders, and organic debris can accumulate at the narrow inlet neck, drastically reducing overall vacuum flow.

Our Solmetex Diagnostic & Repair Process

To safely restore your suction and keep your clinic clean, our technical team follows a meticulous, step-by-step restoration pipeline:

1.Vacuum Line Chemical Decontamination:

We flush the system using a specialized, neutral pH line cleaner (between 6 and 8 pH, as recommended by Solmetex) to sanitize the lines without dissolving stored amalgam.

2.Vacuum Pressure & Leak Testing:

Using specialized pressure gauges, we measure vacuum loss across both the inlet and outlet ports of the Hg5 unit to isolate the exact location of any micro-cracks or seal failures.

3.Upper Chamber & Bypass Inspection:

The upper containment chamber is carefully disassembled. We inspect the integrated bypass mechanism and clean any accumulated sediment from the flow paths.

4.O-Ring & Fitting Replacement:

We replace all critical connection seals, the inlet/outlet O-rings, and verify that the mounting brackets are completely stable to prevent physical stress on the pipe fittings.

5.Performance & Flow Validation:

The system is re-pressurized and flow-tested. We verify that waste routes correctly into the lower chamber with zero pressure drop at your dental chairs.
