Common ScanX Faults & Engineering Solutions

Dentists often face the following challenges withAir Technique Phosphor Imaging System:

ScanX Common Fault	Clinical Symptoms	Primary Root Cause	Our Technical Solution
Optical Path Contamination	Constant vertical white lines across digital X-rays.	Dust, debris, or micro-scratches settling on the internal scanning laser mirror.	Optics Overhaul: Complete teardown and precision cleaning of the laser line block in a cleanroom environment, followed by laser realignment.
Transport Roller Wear	Imaging plates getting jammed mid-scan, or physical creasing/tearing of expensive plates.	Internal rubber transport rollers hardening, losing grip, or building up chemical residue over time.	Mechanical Refresh: Complete replacement of the transport roller kit, track alignment, and drive belt tension optimization.
Laser Diode Degradation	Faded, grainy, or low-contrast radiographs that lack diagnostic sharpness.	The internal laser diode dropping in milliwatt power output as it reaches its end-of-life.	Diode Replacement: Installation of a brand-new, OEM-spec laser diode and recalibration of the photomultiplier tube (PMT).
Erase Assembly Failure	"Ghosting" or double exposures where previous patient anatomy is faintly visible on a new scan.	Burned-out high-intensity LED erase strips or a malfunctioning erase driver board.	Erase Circuit Repair: Replacement of internal UV/LED erase modules and verification of the power delivery sub-boards.
Software Disconnection	"Scanner not found" errors or sudden communication dropouts mid-processing.	Damaged physical USB/Ethernet ports or driver configuration conflicts following a Windows update.	Interface Restoration: Precision soldering of physical mainboard communication ports and remote driver optimization via TeamViewer/AnyDesk.

What Dentists Say AbouT Us

"Our four-track ScanX Classic started leaving sharp vertical white lines across all of our intraoral views, and the inline erase assembly was leaving ghost images from previous scans. The manufacturer told us our legacy unit was nearing end-of-life and pushed for an upgrade. Repair.Dental completely rebuilt the laser optics block and replaced the internal LED erase strips. Our images look completely brand new, and we saved thousands by keeping our trusted workhorse alive." — Dr. Timothy R., Lead Clinician

"We were losing hundreds of dollars a week replacing size 2 phosphor plates that were getting physically crimped and scratched inside our chairside ScanX Swift. Repair.Dental diagnosed a hardened internal transport roller kit and a misaligned entry track. They replaced the rubber rollers and calibrated the drive tension. The unit hasn't chewed up a single plate since it got back to our office. Exceptional turnaround time!" — Mikaela P., Practice Manager
